Sam Querrey outlasted German Rainer Schuettler, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4) in two hours, 20 minutes, as the second-seeded American improved to 6-0 in quarterfinal matches this season.

Querrey, who beat Aussie Carsten Ball in last year's Los Angeles finale, will face sixth-seeded Janko Tipsarevic in the semis after the Serb downed third- seeded Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus, 6-3, 7-5.

This week's champion will collect $111,950.
